About
Using less energy when demand is high can help reduce strain on the energy grid, help you create new revenue streams, and ensure everyone has safe and reliable power. When demand increases during the summer, you’ll get a request to decrease your electricity use. You can do this by raising the temperature of your air conditioner or thermostat, turning off lights, and delaying when you use large appliances, like your HVAC system, elevator banks, and more.
It’s free to participate and you can opt out at any time. All you need to enroll is an active Con Edison electric account and a smart meter.
Deadlines
You can enroll at any point throughout the year, but you will only be able to earn Smart Usage Rewards from May 1 to September 30.
Rewards
The reward type and amount will be determined by the Smart Usage Partner you choose and how much energy you reduce.
